Thread Caravan — A Travel Company That Connects Artisans and Travellers

Small-group trips and cultural art workshops around the world.

Founded by Caitlin Ahern, Thread Caravan brings travellers into direct contact with artisans in their own communities, shaping journeys around heritage craft and cultural exchange.

Trips allow travellers to collaborate with indigenous craftspeople, learning heritage techniques that have been practiced for generations, and allow craftspeople a platform to educate others about the importance of these historical customs.

Programmes are intentionally small and immersive. In Oaxaca, that might mean days spent weaving with local makers, visiting markets, working with natural dyes, and eating local cuisine. Elsewhere, itineraries explore textile traditions in Guatemala or exploration of the storied tradition of generational craft practices in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India.
